Children's Harbor

Playing at Children's HarborChildren's Harbor is a non-profit organization committed to helping children with long-term illnesses by offering camping and adventure events for them and their families. Located in Kowaliga, the organization has done a wonderful job of serving special-needs children over the years, earning it a unique place of honor in the Lake Martin community.

The Children's Harbor lighthouse has in the last few years become a local landmark itself. The lighthouse, which can be seen from the lake and the shore, serves as a beacon of hope to all who see it, a reminder that there are people willing to help children in need.

Church in the Pines is a beautiful open-air church built right on the shore of Lake Martin, and is also the summer home for the Sunday morning services of Children's Harbor. The church was designed to blend into the natural surroundings and offer an unobstructed view of the lake. The services are generally led by ministers and musicians from various local churches and are very well attended each week.

During cooler months, Children's Chapel becomes the venue for the Children's Harbor services. The charming little church, designed to look like an early American church building, features a wrap-around front porch that offers a breath-taking view of Lake Martin. Not surprisingly, Children's Chapel and Church in the Pines are the two most popular wedding sites in the area.

Services held at both locations are casual and start at 9:00 AM. Both churches are located off AL Highway 63, at the end of the Kowaliga Bridge. There is ample parking as well as piers for people attending by boat.
