Alexander City ParksThe Alexander City Parks and Recreation Department is truly one of the gems of the Lake Martin community. It offers an astounding array of services and programs for people of all interests and ages. Toddlers can be involved in the Mommy and Me swimming program; youth can enjoy gymnastics, baseball, cheerleading, softball, and soccer; adults can join church and independent softball leagues, tennis leagues, or do aerobics; senior citizens have various activities as well, such as the new bird watching program. Despite the already impressive lineup, the recreation department is always looking for new programs to offer the community. There is no requirement to join a league or program to join in on the fun, however. The parks provide many other opportunities, such as walking trails, a fishing pond, a 12,000 square foot playground, batting cages, and horse riding arenas. The park's primary facility is the Charles E. Bailey Sr. Sportplex, but they have other locations as well. The Cooper Community Center can be found off Highway 63, and the Lakewinds Golf Course can be found off U.S. Highway 280 between Dadeville and Alexander City.
