Cancer Center

The Cancer Center at RMC is dedicated to offering state-of-the-art treatment to cancer patients in central Alabama. They employ a variety of methods to fight cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy (IMRT). Treatments are administered by a compassionate, competent team of doctors and nurses, chosen for their excellent credentials and outstanding personal characteristics. The RMC Cancer Center has now teamed up with the American Cancer Society to organize T.O.U.C.H. (Today Our Understanding of Cancer is Hope), a support group run by a licensed social worker. Total Fitness

The RMC Total Fitness center offers rehabilitation programs to help the community achieve and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. The highlight of the facility is its indoor swimming pools, where aquatic therapy, fitness classes, and open swimming all take place. The cardiac rehab center offers personalized education and exercise programs to combat the effects of heart disease. The Total Fitness center also offers a variety of therapy programs, including occupation therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. For athletes, RMC has a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility, where athletes can recover from injuries or use the motion capture system to analyze and correct their biomechanics.

Imaging Center

Russell Medical Center now offers some of the latest imaging services available anywhere. The LightSpeed VCT Scanner, for example, is the first of its kind, able to capture images more than two times faster than a conventional multi-slice CT scanner. The RMC Imaging Center was the first facility in Alabama and the second in the southeastern United States to introduce a digital mammography system. They also offer MRI services, PET scans, and spiral CT scans.

Dialysis Services

Physicians Choice Dialysis at RMC offers convenience and comfort to dialysis patients by means of a reclining chair, personal TV, flexible schedule, and courteous treatment by a knowledgeable staff. Other services required by dialysis patients are offered as well, such as providing help from a dietician or social worker. The center is overseen by Dr. Dimo Popov, a board certified nephrologist.
