LMRA Boating Class (3 hours)
The Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA), in conjunction with the Montgomery Power Squadron of Alabama Marine Police and Russell Marine, will offer a boating class. The course will be the Marine Police "Boat Alabama" Course, a six-hour course teaching the minimum boating skills to obtain the "V" on a driver's license or an equivalent certification in other states.

The Lake Martin Area Rodeo For A Cure
Riders and ropers from Bo Campbell Rodeo Productions will perform in eight events: bareback bronc riding, tie-down calf roping, cowgirls breakaway roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, cowgirls barrel racing, team roping and bull riding. The event will also feature specialty acts, children's events and concessions. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12 and free for 3 and under. Proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Tallapoosa County Relay for Life.

Introduction to Sailing
The Dixie Sailing Club hosts its annual "Introduction to Sailing" on Lake Martin. This event is open to the public and attendance is limited to the first 60 that call or email. The activities include "chalk talk" on sailing basics, learn the parts of a sailboat, capsize and recovery demo, go for a sail on a member's boat, learn to sail a Sunfish, and a tour the club facilities. Lunch will be provided. Call the event coordinator or email to reserve your slot.

Eclectic Parade & Salute to our Heroes
Join Eclectic residents in an old-time, hometown salute to the armed forces, the folks back home who support and miss them and the town's deep commitment to American patriotism. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and an hour-long musical tribute and program will follow at the Elmore County High School football stadium around 11 a.m. Red Thunder, a team of vintage aircraft, will perform a demonstration flight midway through the ceremony. Various marching and motorized units with a military, patriotic or civic theme will participate in the parade, as well as Miss Indian Alabama and the Buffalo Soldiers 9th and 10th Calvary Association.

Russell Marine's 20th Annual Fourth of July Boat Parade
Boats decorated with flags with an Independence Day theme parade from Kowaliga Marina to Children's Harbor. Judging takes place and awards are given for the most decorated boats in different categories. Register at any Russell Marine location to participate in a colorful, patriotic parade with your personal watercraft or boat. Join in on the fun and get family and friends to help decorate your water vessel with an Independence Day theme. Prizes awarded in several categories.

4th of July Blast - Concert and Fireworks
Head to the Lake Martin Amphitheater the night of July 4 for one of the Southeast's biggest fireworks displays. Musical entertainment includes Rock Solid, Nationwide Coverage, which will take the stage before and after the fireworks, and Homeland. Fireworks start at 9:00 PM. Food and non-alcoholic concessions available for purchase on-site. Admission is $15 and children 6 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available through The Adventure Center at Russell Crossroads, Ticketmaster and at the gate.

Sarah Carlisle Towery Art Colony
Two nationally recognized artists headline a week-long workshop for adult artists on the beautiful Children's Harbor campus on the shores of Lake Martin. Participants will be able to showcase their talents and learn new techniques from instructors. An art show will be held at the end of the week. This year's instructors are Qiang Huang, a painter, and Holly Roberts, who creates painted photographs. An independent study class, overseen by artist Hugh Williams, is also available. Registration deadline is September 15th.

The Dixie Sailing Club hosts its annual Scotalina Tu Tu on Lake Martin the last weekend in October each year. This event is open to members and non-members of the Dixie Sailing Club. The fall regatta attracts sailors from across the Southeast.
